Women on Air
Women On Air started as a suffrage project in 1992 leading up to the 100th anniversary of White Camellia Day in September 1993. It's a programme by, for and about women coordinated by the Women On Air Trust where women from all walks of life discuss a wide range of topics.
Ruth Todd, Morrin Rout and their team present an eclectic mix of interviews on current issues, books and the arts, and they play some fantastic music by women too! Part of the philosophy of the programme is to promote the achievements of women who don't necessarily get the mainstream media coverage they deserve.
Women on Air empowers and enables Canterbury women to get on air and provides opportunities to learn announcing and programme making skills.
The Women On Air Trust raises funds to help sustain the programme through advertising sponsorship and popular community events. If you cannot listen on Saturday morning check out the podcasts available on the right hand side of this page.
