Jim Fraser and Richard Hore are long-standing community broadcasters and both have been awarded a Queen’s Service Medal in the latest New Years Honours list.
Pipe band enthusiast, Jim Fraser, has presented Band Concert since 1991; while composer, musician and teacher, Richard Hore has aired programmes featuring organ music since 1993; latterly Organ Pipes and Plug-Ins .
They have shown great determination, dedication and drive in order to maintain their programmes on air for so long, and we are very proud of them.
Sadly Jim died soon after New Year after a long illness, but right up until recently he still kept informed about station happenings and stayed in contact with the station staff. Jim was a great advocate for community access radio, a hard working volunteer and a wonderful contributor to the Community Broadcasters’ Society and Plains FM.
He will be greatly missed.
