Make a programme
YOU TOO CAN MAKE A PROGRAMME!
Plains FM 96.9 is here for you or your group to create and broadcast your own programme. The station provides the professional training and facilities to do so.
Many groups and organisations are under-represented in the mainstream media and use Plains FM to get their message across.
These groups include:
- Women
- Children & Youth
- People with disabilities
- Minorities, including ethnic minorities
We encourage Canterbury people to develop their own broadcasting skills.
Members of the public can create programmes that focus on favourite music or areas of special interest that are not aired on other stations.
Costs
Potential programme makers need to fill out an Airtime Application form so we can determine the airtime rate we will charge per programme.
Airtime costs range from $12.00 (plus GST) per 25 minute programme upwards. Airtime rates vary depending on the type of programme, who it is for, if you belong to a non-profit organisation, or if you are applying as an individual. We will ask you to fill in an Airtime Application form to determine this.
All broadcasters join the Community Broadcasters' Society, which serves as a support group, encourages networks amongst broadcasters, and assists the station with equipment, events and other activities.
Subscriptions start at $50 incl GST for full individual membership. Group memberships are also available for larger groups.
Training
CBS members are given full training to produce and present regular programmes.
You'll develop the skills to broadcast independently over time. Broadcasters have access to portable recording equipment and production facilities.
Assistance and advice with sponsorship and marketing your programmes is also available.
For more information about making a programme, please email the station with a brief idea of what you would like to do.
